How Families Help Shape a Stronger Early Childhood System
By sharing lived experiences and working collaboratively with Ready Region staff and fellow members, Family Council participants help strengthen the early childhood system and ensure it better reflects the needs of the families it serves.
Ready Region Blue Ridge Family Council
We support a Family Council, made up of families from across our region to ensure the early childhood system is designed to work for families. Our Family Council provides input on early childhood design and decisions, and helps our Ready Region understand and better meet families’ needs.

Elevates family voice in early childhood care and education decision-making.
Connects families with clear, relevant information about local resources and services.
Identifies emerging needs related to family support and childcare.
Expectations of Family Council Members
Thoughtfully and respectfully share your family’s experiences and the perspectives of other families in your community.
Attend and actively participate in scheduled Family Council meetings.
Build positive, collaborative relationships with fellow Family Council members and Ready Region Blue Ridge staff.
Take part in events when invited or requested.
Offer ideas and recommendations to help strengthen families’ experiences within the early childhood community.
Provide feedback on your experience as a Family Council member to support continuous improvement.
